Hi,
I have a MB Trac 800 with a blown engine, problem in getting a new OM314 is that I am located in Australia, and there isn't a great deal of MB engines available.
I can get an OM352a easy enough, has anyone done the conversion?
Any information would be appreciated,
Thanks.

Hello Evan,
a very warm welcome!
You can see: it is possible to swap the engine from OM314-4 to OM352a-6 cylinders.
We have some discussions and postings here in the community about this.
In Germany this change is normally not conform with our legal requirements. Our TÜV = technical inspection agency is very strict.
Two points of this discussions I remember:
Because the engine is longer you have to enlarge the frame or replace the tank of the hydraulic system.
The higher torque of the OM352a is perhaps critical for the gearbox.
If you want to make the change, please give us many pictures.

Hi Franz-Josef,
I will put up pictures as I proceed with repairs,
I was in the Army for many years and drove Unimogs regularly,
Hopefully the 6 cylinder and gear box get along in the 800.
I will post pictures as I go and no doubt be asking a lot of questions.
Regards,
Evan.
G’Day Evan,
Nice to see you found your way to this community.
I lived in AU for 4 years working at the Rio Tinto smelter in Bell Bay, Tassie and saw the occasional MB trac floating around, though most of those were in terrible condition.
I believe you are located in WA? You probably should put a pin on the user map!
And yes, upload pictures. People here will appreciate getting a feel for the area you live in and the things happening at your farm.
Cheers,
Gerd.
